What Are We Teaching Black Youth About Crime?

The responsibility of individuals to behave in a law-abiding manner is absent from the “Black Lives Matter” discussion about preserving black lives. While activists rail against police officers and political candidates deemed as racist, they are not doing enough to educate inner-city youth about how to avoid deadly encounters. As a consequence, some blacks have begun to act as if there is no such thing as a justifiable homicide.

After Trevon Johnson, a teenaged burglary suspect, was shoot and killed by a Miami homeowner, his relatives focused on the homeowner’s decision to shoot the victim. His cousin Nautika Harris argued: “You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,”. . .You have to understand … how he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school?
