Ungodly Attacks on Divine Institutions and the Crumbling Tower of Babel

Genesis 11 describes the Tower of Babel. It’s interesting to note that verse 3 specifically states and I quote “Come let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” Then the people proceeded to try to build a city with a tower that reached to the Heavens. This was the first attempt to build a one-world government. So what did God do in response to this? He came down and confused their language and scattered them over the whole earth, dividing them into different nations with different languages. That stopped them from building the city.

God has established Divine Institutions that are designed to protect us from an oppressive one world government. That’s why He divided people by language into different nations. These national divisions serve as a hedge against a one-world dictatorship. Unfortunately there are movements afoot today that seek to erode national divisions through open borders.

Marriage is another one of these Divine Institutions. The family is God’s support structure for humanity. And now that the Supreme Court has unconstitutionally attempted to redefine marriage, it won’t stay limited to same sex marriage, because people will demand state recognition of other types of relationships, such as polygamy and incest. This is a slippery slope towards the erosion of all civil marriage. Family support structures are antithetical to centrally planned government control, just as faith in God is also a threat to big government, because people who have no hope are easier to control. Hope springs from faith in God and families provide secure support structures. The left tries to replace God with government and leftist policies direct people to get support and security from government instead of traditional families.

Another threat to family structure and autonomy is emerging in the public school system. Common Core standards are a way for the Federal government and special interest groups to seize control of education from the states, counties, and parents. With states and elected school boards in charge, it’s much harder for the federal government to control the system. This local control by states, counties, and parents serves as a safeguard that protects children from the collectivist agenda of central planners. The top down approach of Common Core totally disregards the needs of individual students while undermining parents and teachers. These standards also require states to build high tech tracking systems that will not only monitor student performance, but track personal data about them and their families as well. This is a typical practice of oppressive totalitarian governments.

Clearly, the Divine Institutions are under attack. So why did the Bible tell us that the builders wanted to use “thoroughly baked bricks” to build the tower of Babel? Why did God give us that information? Because people who have no hope are easier to control. If there are no family support structures, and no hope in anything besides government, people can be molded into uniform bricks. Common Core seeks to make education standards the same for everyone with no regard for the individual. The quicker students are dumbed down while the slower students are neglected. Critical thinking is also discouraged. This system is designed to produce uniform, common, obedient serfs. It’s designed to make bricks.

The automobile is another symbol of American freedom and autonomy.  And although global temperatures have been declining for over 10 years and Arctic sea ice increasing, the UN, through global warming scams, and variations of Agenda 21, seeks to force people into communities that are uniform and controllable. They want to restrict what people drive, where they live, how much space they have, and where they can go. Once again, to make bricks that are easier to control. Gun confiscation is another means of control.

So what can we do? Where is the answer? I Peter 2:4-5 says “As you come to Him, the Living Stone, rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him, you also like living stones are being built into a Spiritual house, to be a Holy priesthood, offering Spiritual sacrifices to God through Jesus Christ.” Jesus is the Cornerstone of this Spiritual house of which we are living stones.

While bricks are manmade, artificial, and uniform, stones are natural, individual creations of God. When Billy Graham spoke in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, people were amazed that Jesus relates to us as individuals, because the Communist government always treated them as collective masses to be controlled. And Dr. Graham was part of a Spiritual earthquake that was instrumental in the fall of Communism.

So the question is, do we want to be part of a Spiritual earthquake? The hour is late and our liberties are in peril. It’s going to take EVERY ONE of us to stop the social upheaval that threatens to destroy the very foundations of our Republic. We can no longer afford to say “I’m too busy, let someone else do it.” We must be salt and light and lead by example. II Chronicles 7:14 states “If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

We must support legislators who are motivated by principles rather than personal power. Our own Mark Pody and Mae Beavers are great examples of this as they are sponsoring legislation that will protect our religious freedom. And we must support true conservatives in the primaries. Many call themselves Conservatives while campaigning,  but once elected they just work at climbing their way up the power ladder, while totally disregarding the conservative values of the people they are supposed to represent. When actions and words conflict, believe the actions every time.

So let’s be the living stones that are part of a great spiritual house that will resist and conquer the bricks of tyranny.
