As I stated in a Facebook post last year, I no longer purchase Girl Scout Cookies. I am disturbed by their close connection with Planned Parenthood of America and by published accounts of lesbian recruitment written by from former scouts. Below is a disturbing excerpt from Be the People. It describes a Girl Scout activity that should never have taken place.

In March 2010, Planned Parenthood used the Girl Scouts to distribute a shameful brochure titled “Healthy, Happy, and Hot: A Young Person’s Guide to their Rights, Sexuality, and Living with HIV” at its meeting at the United Nations. According to the brochure, “Sharing your HIV status is called disclosure. Your decision about whether to disclose may change with different people and situations. You have the right to decide if, when, and how to disclose your HIV status.”

The brochure explains,

Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse … But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself . . . Improve your sex life by getting to know your own body. Play with yourself! Masturbation is a great way to find out more about your body and what you find sexually stimulating. Mix things up by using different kinds of touch from very soft to hard. Talk about or act out your fantasies. Talk dirty to them.”

Folks, Girl Scouts of America has changed. It’s not your mother’s Girl Scouts. Parents, you need to conduct your own investigation and decide if you are comfortable with the speakers, activities, and politics of Girl Scouts of America. In fact, here’s a link to 100 Questions to ask Girl Scouts of America.
