Police Officer Ambushed While Engaging in a Routine Activity: When Will This Madness End?
“A man with a semiautomatic handgun ambushed two officers who’d stopped their patrol car at a traffic light in Las Vegas on Sunday, police said.
An officer who was shot in the hand was being treated at a hospital, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sgt. John Sheahan said. He was in good condition.
Police haven’t released the identity of the suspect, who was later arrested by the officers.
The officers were in a marked patrol car, police said, responding to a disturbance call at a local business.”
Meanwhile, The Charlotte Observer reports 5 homicides over the weekend, including a 7-year-old boy attending a birthday party and a woman sitting on her porch. If violence against police officers continue, the people who need them most will suffer the greatest tragedies as the criminal element engulfs their neighborhoods. This is already happening in urban neighborhoods around the country. In Chicago’s Labor Day weekend violence, 6 were killed and 27 wounded. I wonder how many of the people were black. Law and order needs to be the clarion call of the next president.
