An organization known as The Center for Medical Progress shocked the nation in the summer of 2015 with its undercover videos that exposed Planned Parenthood’s practice of selling aborted fetus parts and fully intact fetuses. Many people who are pro-choice have been appalled at this practice. Planned Parenthood officials claimed that no profit was made from the parts and that any payment only covered the cost of preparing for shipment and delivery charges. The comments made by Planned Parenthood personnel and other evidence prove otherwise.

It is enlightening to examine Planned Parenthood by the numbers. Planned Parenthood does 40% of all abortions that take place in the nation annually. Fifty-one percent of all its revenue comes from abortions. In 2012, this amounted to $164,154,000. It performs 329,445 abortions per year. This works out to be close to $500 per abortion. Total income from clinic services is around $320,000,000 with an additional $224,000,000 by donations, and then there is that $500,000,000 contribution by the American taxpayer courtesy of the government.1

Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3), which means all donations to it are tax exempt, but it is also restricted from endorsing or contributing to a political candidate. What is not often reported is that Planned Parenthood has a PAC, which stands for Political Action Committee. A PAC is created so that it can contribute to political campaigns. The Planned Parenthood PAC does this with gusto to candidates that are pro-choice and support abortion, which are 99% liberal Democrats.

No federal democrat politicians were seen sprinting to microphones to decry the deplorable actions of Planned Parenthood revealed by the videos. Why would they? Planned Parenthood is a cash cow for democrat politicians. Politicians are not inclined to attack donors. In the midst of this Planned Parenthood controversy, Hillary Clinton made the statement “I’m proud to stand with Planned Parenthood. I’ll never stop fighting to protect the ability and right of every woman in this country to make her own health decisions.”2

In early August of 2015, Elizabeth Warren went to the Senate floor to blast Republicans and defend Planned Parenthood when she spewed, “Do you have any idea what year it is? Did you fall down, hit your head, and think you woke up in the 1950s? Or the 1890s? Should we call for a doctor? Because I simply cannot believe that in the year 2015, the United States Senate would be spending its time trying to defund women’s health-care centers.3

These two prominent democrat politicians publicly voiced their support for an organization that dares to operate a human chop shop as if it were some jewel for women’s health-care. How can anyone consider an organization that claims to be a positive focus for women’s health-care when 51% of its revenues come from ending the lives of unborn children? Planned Parenthood does not even perform mammograms. The two female liberal democrat politicians tried to use the anemic health-care service aspect of Planned Parenthood as a smoke screen for damage control against the videos that are exposing the sinister side of this controversial organization.

It is hard to heap praise on Planned Parenthood for its devotion to women’s health when it joined a law suit against the state of Texas because the state passed a law that all abortion clinics need to meet building and equipment standards required of other surgical centers.4 Abortion centers opposed this law largely because it cuts into their profits. It only stands to reason that any abortion center that did not meet basic medical standards would be a health risk to the women who seek services from it. If Planned Parenthood and other abortion centers really made women’s health concerns a high priority, they would welcome the opportunity to meet and excel these medical standards.

Liberal Democrats are protective of Planned Parenthood and the whole abortion industry because it pays them to do so. In the election year of 2014, the Planned Parenthood PAC was busy. It spent $1,854,476 for Democrats to $13,390 for Republicans. It did not spend one dollar against a democrat candidate, but it did manage to shell out $2,873,201 against Republicans.5

When it comes to abortion, Warren and Clinton are more concerned about campaign wealth than they are women’s health. The half billion that Planned Parenthood receives from the taxpayers is half its operating budget. This makes it very convenient to tell a donor to contribute to its PAC where that money can support Democrats running for office. In essence, Democrats use Planned Parenthood to launder taxpayer dollars into campaign contributions. This is the dirty secret of Planned Parenthood and its beneficiary, the Democrat Party. You can rest assured that the mainstream liberal media knows all about this cozy arrangement, but you can also be certain that the general public will never hear about it from them.

Congress needs to pass a law that prevents a 501 (c)(3) from operating a PAC if it receives taxpayer money. A Planned Parenthood staff member’s salary is partly paid by taxpayers. When this person makes a contribution to the PAC, some taxpayer money is redirected to democrat political campaigns. If Planned Parenthood continues to operate its PAC, it needs to be defunded. One can only wonder how many dollars from the sale of fetal parts and intact deceased infants have made their way into democrat campaign coffers via the Planned Parenthood PAC. The term blood money has a new meaning.
